Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

Year 2 is an exciting year where your child will learn how to become more independent whilst having plenty of fun! In year 2 the children will further develop their skill in reading, writing and maths. They will study different topics including castles, Africa and their local area.

At Elms Farm we recognise that year 2 is an important year as the children have to complete end of key stage tests before they move into the junior classes. In year 2 the children will be expected to read at home every evening and complete weekly homework for  English and maths. This is important as it consolidates the skills that they have learnt in school.

The children have been learning about the famous figure their class is named after. Elgar class have painted some excellent portraits and O'Keeffe class have painted some flowers inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe.
